The Many Moods of Lake Huron…

Lake Huron is on the “sunrise” side of Michigan, hugging most of the eastern coastline for 400 miles from Port Huron to the Straits of Mackinaw. Of the five Great Lakes, Lake Huron is the second largest lake according to surface area and the third largest lake according to volume and has a maximum depth of 750 feet. It is also the third largest freshwater lake in the world

Our hotel had its own slice of beach along Lake Huron; we began each day with a walk along the shoreline. I was struck how each day greeted us with a different mood. This post will be sharing these moods, mostly through photographs…

DAY 1

Our hotel had Adirondak chairs along the beach for guests to use; we grabbed our coffees and made our way down…we were not disappointed! Every morning of our stay we went to the beach, surprisingly, we never saw another person…wow, did they miss out!

1st glimpse of the magnificent sunrise!
Hubby, Coffee, Poppy & Lake Huron Sunrise, no better way to begin a day!

After the coffee was done, we decided to take a walk along the shoreline.

Early morning walk on beach, bedhead and all!

Poppy is a beach dog but not a water dog, she hates getting wet…but loves sniffing & digging in the sand.

DAY 2

This morning the wind was blowing and storms were brewing. We didn’t get the vibrant golden colors of the previous day, but stormy skies have their own sort of beauty.

We still did our beach walk amongst a few sprinkles.

DAY 3

This day was a bit of a hybrid of the two previous days. It started out very foggy…the shoreline disappears in the distance…

…but rays of sun found their way down!

Each morning, I spend time reading different scriptures, this is a verse from a passage in Psalms that I read this weekend…God’s timing is always perfect!

“Show your greatness in the sky, O God, and your glory over all the earth.” ~Psalm 57:11
