Today we leave the beautiful California coast and the magnificent Redwood Forest heading to Bonney Lake, Washington. There we will spend some time with my sister and her husband, and be reunited with our pup, Poppy!
We decided to take an alternate route toward Washington, avoiding the drudgery and congestion of the I-5, opting for the, albeit slower, but much more scenic US-101. This slower route only added about 25 minutes longer drive time and it was totally worth it.
The US-101 hugs the Oregon coastline all the way up to the Washington border. Along this route there are lots of state parks to explore, cute coastal towns and many opportunities to stretch your legs and take in the views of scenic pullouts.
We didn’t stop to explore very often, but we did spend some time at this scenic pull-out for lunch.
Yesterday, we spent our last evening in Crescent City by taking in the sunset at Pebble Beach. Even though it was windy and cold on the beach, I couldn’t think of a better way to end our time in this magnificent part of the world.

As an added bonus, the lighthouse that we visited on Day 10 was light up, beckoning us goodnight!
Great week to drive up the Washington coast! Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing.
