Memory Lane…

The winter just seems to drag on this time of year… it is especially hard on older people, my mother included. After the stress & myriad of medical appointments treating her lung cancer I thought she needed to get away.

Her older brother is living the retirement life in Florida so we hopped on a plane and address need for a week.

It’s been 3 years since my mom last saw her brother & over 10 years since I saw him! It has been so good to reconnect with him, my aunt & 2 cousins.

Our 1st evening was spent going down memory lane. I saw photos of my mom as a young woman in her early 20’s for the first time! And a photo of my grandfather, who I’ve never had the chance to meet.

Family can be complicated, can be messy but no matter the dynamic family is precious.

My aunt & uncle on their wedding day 1953.

My mom helping her soon to be sister-in-law with the wedding veil.

My aunt the and her bridesmaids, my mom is the tall blonde.

My grandmother with an usher, my grandfather with my mom’s younger sister.

My mom (84) and her brother (88) today.
