I recently went to see the 1964 movie Mary Poppins on the Giant Screen at The Henry Ford Museum. This movie is one of my childhood favorites, and I enjoyed it just as much as an adult as I did then. There is a line from the movie that has been resonating with me these past few weeks. Shortly after arriving Mary Poppins tells the Banks children, Jane & Michael, that she will stay “until the wind changes.”
It is Spring here in Michigan, which typically brings with it windy weather, rain, and a rollercoaster intermittently cold and warm days…until finally Spring takes a firm hold. What once was gray, frozen and barren gives way to rich green grass, budding trees and the first glimpse of color from crocus, hyacinths, tulips and various flowering trees.
There are change of seasons in life too…and I feel like we are on the edge of potential change. There have been lots of discussions about the possibilities of what our next big adventure could be…the bigger question is, will we be willing to embrace the change when the opportunity knocks.
Until then, we will continue to dream, plan and prepare; keeping an eye on the weathervane until the wind changes.
